I checked out the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga, and there are a couple of options for you. The one I looked at had an Intel Core i7-1355U processor, a solid 16GB of RAM, a spacious 512GB SSD, and a nice 13.3-inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. This particular model costs $1,579.

There’s another model that’s a bit cheaper at $1,439, but it comes with a slightly less powerful i5-1335U processor. However, it’s only around $100 less, and in my opinion, the performance drop isn’t worth the savings. So, if it were me, I’d stick with the slightly pricier but more powerful option.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Design

When it comes to looks, The Lenovo ThinkPad laptop is wrapped in a soft gray-black material, and you’ll find the Lenovo and ThinkPad logos on the lid. Open it up, and you’ll see a smooth keyboard area with the classic red pointing stick and clickers.

This 2-in-1 laptop can flip all the way into a tablet mode, showing off a display with pretty thick bezels and a webcam. One cool thing is that Lenovo put the power button separate from the keyboard – a move that would make Laptop Mag alum Phillip Tracy quite happy.

I thought the 13.3-inch screen on the ThinkPad L13 Yoga Gen 4, with its glossy finish and 1920 x 1200 resolution, would be really bright. But turns out, it didn’t shine as much as its competitors.

It scored 274 nits, falling quite short of the 434-nit average for this category. So, while the display is okay, it doesn’t quite light up as much as some other laptops out there.

Even though it’s a slim and light laptop, the ThinkPad L13 Yoga doesn’t skimp on ports. Typing on the keyboard is a breeze; I managed 80 words per minute on the 10fastfingers.com typing test, a bit above my usual 78 wpm. While a bit more space between keys would be nice, it’s still quite comfy.

The touchpad is a joy to use with a soft and deep click. There’s a bit of resistance, but it’s not a big deal. Plus, it handles Windows gestures like three-finger tabbing and two-finger scrolling really well. So, overall, typing and navigating are smooth experiences on this laptop!

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Audio

The speakers on the Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga are a bit disappointing. Even with Dolby Access trying to enhance the sound, they still come off as muted and just okay. You can tweak the audio settings in the Lenovo Vantage app that includes Dolby Access, but no matter how you adjust them, you might find the sound lacking. So, if top-notch audio is crucial for you, this might not be the strongest feature of this laptop.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Security and Durability

Since ThinkPad designed for business, they pack in some extra features for security and durability. This laptop has a special TPM 2.0 security chip, a fingerprint reader, a Kensington Nano Security Slot, a self-healing BIOS, and a handy privacy shutter for the webcam.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Performance

This laptop is powered by an Intel Core i7-1355U processor and boasts a solid 16GB of RAM. Handling a bunch of Google Chrome tabs and a few 1080p YouTube videos is a breeze. However, when compared to some other laptops, it doesn’t shine as much.

On the Geekbench 5.5 performance test, the ThinkPad scored 7,083, which is good but not the best out there. It’s still quite capable, though.

In terms of video processing, it took about 12 minutes and 8 seconds to transcode a 4K video to 1080p using HandBrake. The laptop’s 512GB SSD has a transfer rate of 768 megabytes per second, which is decent but falls short of the average premium laptop. So, while it handles daily tasks well, it’s not the absolute top performer in its category.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Graphics

When it comes to graphics, the ThinkPad L13 Yoga, equipped with an Intel Iris Xe Graphics chip, isn’t a powerhouse. On the 3DMark Fire Strike graphics test, it scored 4,921, which is quite a bit lower than the average premium laptop (8,914). It does a bit better compared to the Envy x360 with its AMD Radeon Graphics chip (3,872), but it’s still not top-tier.

In real-world gaming, the ThinkPad L13 Yoga managed an average of 29 frames per second on the Sid Meier’s Civilization VI: Gathering Storm benchmark at medium settings and 1080p resolution. While it’s playable, it falls short of the average for this category, which is 54 frames per second. So, if you’re into graphics-intensive tasks or gaming, this laptop might not be the ideal choice.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Webcam

The built-in webcam on the L13 is pretty decent. Considering it’s designed for business use, it gets the job done for your meetings. It’s a 1080p sensor, and it captures well, showcasing bold colors and capturing details quite nicely. It seems to be one of the better webcams out there.

There’s a sliding shutter to cover the 720p webcam when not in use. While it may be slightly dim and soft-focused, it still provides clear and colorful shots. The speakers, located at the bottom, produce fairly loud sound, although it’s a bit hollow with not much bass. However, the highs and midtones are solid, making it easy to distinguish different tracks. With Dolby Audio Premium software, you can switch between dynamic, music, movie, game, and voice presets or fine-tune the equalizer to suit your preferences. So, overall, the webcam and audio setup should serve you well in your video calls and entertainment needs.

Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Battery Life

Even though it’s meant for business, the ThinkPad L13 Yoga falls a bit short in a crucial area – battery life. On the Laptop Mag Battery Test, it ran for 8 hours and 39 minutes on one charge. While not bad, it doesn’t quite match up to the average for premium laptops, which is around 10 hours and 37 minutes. So, you might need to keep your charger handy to get through a full day’s work or play.
